Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) are professionals educated in the study of human communication, its development, and its disorders.

SLPs work together with students, teachers, parents and other professionals. They provide a continuum of services to prevent, identify, assess, and treat difficulties with communication.

Referral Process

If you have concerns regarding your child's communication abilities, please discuss them with the classroom teacher who will help facilitate the appropriate referral process based on your child's individual situation.

SLP Services May Include:

SLPs provide assessment and intervention for:

  • Articulation (unclear speech)
  • Language (comprehension, expression, limited vocabulary, poor grammar, mixed-up word order, difficulty following directions)
  • Stuttering
  • Voice
  • Social communication (inappropriate eye contact or body language)
  • Augmentative Alternative Communication

SLPs use a variety of formal and informal assessment strategies in their evaluations of communication skills.
